President & Founder

Paul is the founder and chief executive of Clean Energy Bridge. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in engineering, developing, and financing major capital programs in energy, infrastructure, and other industrial projects, he develops bankable solutions for coal power phaseout.

In the US, Paul has led or supported an origination of carbon capture and sequestration opportunities, advised on solar and wind energy projects, and developed a business model and financing plan for a billion USD desalination-geothermal energy portfolio. He has also worked on investment strategy for a power site redevelopment in the Caribbean; developed a business model, PPP framework, and execution plan for US $20 billion greenfield rail program in Canada; and developed and sold greenfield PV projects in Germany and Italy. He also brings experience working on projects in Australia, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Paul's previous roles include President of Jacobson Solutions (a US renewables advisory firm), CEO of TERRACOH, and senior expert at McKinsey & Company.

He holds an MBA from European School of Management and Technology (Germany), an MSc Chemical Engineering from University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa), and a BSc Chemical Engineering from University of Cape Town (South Africa). Paul is based in Washington, DC.

Country Lead, Morocco

Hassan is an experienced leader who combines strong business development and senior advisory experience. He held senior positions in the public sector in Morocco before starting his private career as an independent advisor to senior business executives, both in Morocco and abroad.

Hassan served as the country director for a major UK government-funded initiative in Morocco for over five years, designed to deliver high-level technical assistance to a wide range of Moroccan public institutions (including the Prime Minister's office, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Justice). He played a central role in engaging with senior stakeholders across the Moroccan government to stimulate demand, shape policy dialogue, and guide the formulation and execution of impactful projects focused on governance reform and economic development.

In addition to his role as Country Lead for CEB Morocco, Hassan acts as a Regional Director for Baker Global Advisory (BGA) and Vice President for NanoPV Solar inc. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Economics & Management, a Master's degree in International Political Economy, and doctoral studies in International Relations, all from the University of Leeds (UK). Hassan is currently based in Casablanca.

Asia-Pacific Director

Balaji is an energy transition leader with more than 35 years of experience in engineering, project development, operations and financing across Asia and Africa, including policy and regulatory frameworks for coal phase-down across Asia; frameworks for carbon markets supporting coal plant retirement financing; and investment structuring for coal phase-down. He was most recently a Specialist Leader at Deloitte leading deployment of 2 GW of advanced energy systems for the $40 million USAID Smart Power Program in Southeast Asia.

Balaji has advised the private sector, power utilities and governments on energy transition strategies, developed business models for renewable portfolios, and mobilized over $3 billion in climate and energy finance through various engagements in the private sector and with multilateral institutions (ASEAN Centre for Energy, World Bank, UNESCAP, METI, UNOPS). He is currently a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Energy Regulators Regional Network (ERRA).

Balaji holds an MBA in International Business with Honors from Webster University (U.S.), a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (India), and executive certifications from MIT Sloan (Sustainability Accelerator, Blockchain) and Duke University (Electricity Industry Operations and Markets). He lives in Bangkok.

Associate

Jiraphat is an investment and sustainability professional with experience in climate finance, corporate sustainability, and energy transition. At CEB, he leads financial modelling, valuation, and commercial analysis to support coal-to-clean energy transition investments in South and Southeast Asia. Jiraphat brings a unique combination of corporate banking, financial modelling, and sustainability consulting experience to clean energy investments. His expertise includes valuation, financial modelling, commercial analysis, climate finance, and energy transition strategy.

Before joining CEB, he was a Senior Consultant and project manager at ERM, advising leading financial institutions and corporations across Southeast Asia on climate strategy, financed emissions, net-zero pathways, and sustainable finance, and climate-related financial disclosures, helping bridge commercial decision-making with decarbonization objectives. Earlier in his career, he spent six years in corporate banking at Bangkok Bank, where he specialized in large corporate lending, financial analysis, and produced macroeconomic and industry research to support business and investment decisions.

Jiraphat holds a Master's degree in International Business from Warwick Business School (UK), a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Thammasat University (Thailand), and has completed Leading with Finance from Harvard Business School Online, strengthening his expertise in financial decision-making and corporate valuation. Jiraphat works from Bangkok.

Project Lead, Morocco

Soufiane has more than 13 years of experience in engineering, developing, and financing utility-scale power and water projects. He is a senior energy transition advisor with direct involvement in developing more than 18 GW of utility-scale renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across the Middle East and Africa. He combines strategic, financial, and technical expertise enabling him to review and challenge complex long-term multi-billion-dollar projects, providing decision-grade insights to different stakeholders.

Soufiane's experience spans the full project lifecycle—from rigorous review of business and financial models to the negotiation of shareholder agreements, PPAs, and EPC contracts within major IPP and PPP frameworks. His track record includes direct participation in the largest single-site wind farm in Morocco in Dakhla, the largest single-site solar plant in the world (Dubai, UAE), and one of the world's largest desalination plants in Casablanca.

Soufiane is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the boutique Moroccan consultancy firm Share Energy Partners (solar consulting firm of the year 2024 and 2025), specializing in project development and structuring in water and power projects. Previously, he worked as a Senior Development Manager in Green of Africa (Morocco) and Manager in renewable energy engineering at ACWA Power (Dubai, UAE).

Soufiane holds an EMBA from the Africa Business School in collaboration with Columbia Business School at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (Morocco), an MSc in Renewable Energy from Loughborough University (UK), and the European Master of Renewable Energy (Belgium). He also has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (Morocco), a MicroMBA from the University of California – San Diego, and a certificate in Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship from École Polytechnique and HEC (France). Soufiane is based in Casablanca.

Chief of Staff

Amy leads operational management, communications, and strategies to enhance collaboration and elevate CEB's brand. She has more than 20 years of experience serving as a trusted advisor to executives in nonprofit, consulting, and federal government in global contexts, overseeing cross-functional process improvements, strategic planning, change management, business development, and projects in Africa, Asia, Central America, Eastern Europe, South America, and the US.

Amy previously held senior leadership roles at EnCompass LLC and Peace Corps, led USAID-funded projects, designed leadership programs for journalists, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Belize.

She holds a Master's in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's in Political Science from the University of Delaware. Amy lives in Washington, DC where she serves on the board of the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Washington, DC.

Country Lead, Thailand

Natthapat is a governance and policy reform leader whose career bridges the public, private, and development sectors across the ASEAN region. She brings more than 10 years of shaping national policies, including extensive hands-on experience in public policy, business development, and legal affairs dealing with finance, energy, public-private partnerships, corporate governance, national e-transaction & AI strategies, and the public sector.

Natthapat currently leads engagement with stakeholders and policymakers in Thailand on power decarbonization and advises on the Clean Air Bill, local government & state-owned enterprise reform to the parliament, multiple ministries, private companies and political parties.

Previously, she was a senior legal officer at the State Enterprise Policy Office of the Ministry of Finance in Thailand and an economic policy analyst to the deputy prime minister. She also accelerated clean mobility and energy transition policies at Tesla, was a board member of the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand, and a consultant to Vriens & Partners. Natthapat continues to help design policies that align public governance with innovation and inclusive growth to enable sustainability across Asia-Pacific.

She is based in Bangkok and holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law and an MA Business & Managerial Economics from Chulalongkorn University (Thailand).

Project Finance & Commercial Advisor

Jonathan's role as finance and commercial advisor leverages his 30 years of experience in the energy sector, including its relation to climate change. He has worked throughout the Middle East and North Africa as well as in Asia, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, the European Union, and Sub-Saharan Africa. His focus is on the transition away from fossil fuels, the emerging impact of disruptive electricity technologies such as solar energy and energy storage, and the role of clean energy in the global economic recovery and global competitiveness, including issues related to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

As a former Director in the World Bank's MENA department, Jonathan was engaged in nearly every segment of the energy supply chain, from upstream oil and gas through to renewable electricity and green hydrogen.

Jonathan holds an MA in Politics and Philosophy from St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford and an MSc (with Distinction) in Economics from Queen Mary's College, University of London. He is based in Washington, DC.
